Webinar: Managers as Change Leaders
January 21, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
January 21, 2016, 2 pm EDT (11 AM PDT) Webinar: Managers as Change Leaders
Many social workers become supervisors or managers on the strength of their clinical skills, but have had little exposure to leadership training or education. To meet this need in child welfare, the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute (NCWWI)has developed a leadership model and training for managers in child welfare called “the Leadership Academy for Middle Managers” (or LAMM). This webinar will introduce participants to this model of an effective, empirically-supported leadership training, and the resources available to everyone from the NCWWI website. Each participant in this webinar will be able to gain insight into how to solve a leadership challenge of their own by applying one of the powerful leadership principles that are part of the LAMM curriculum.
This webinar will be presented by Kathy Briar-Lawson, MSW, PhD, Dean Emeritus, University at Albany, School of Social Welfare, State University of New York, Katharine Cahn, MSW, PhD, Associate Professor and the Executive Director of the Child Welfare Partnership at Portland State University’s School of Social Work and Deborah Reed, MSW, ACSW, LCSW, Assistant Professor of Practice, Portland State University.
*Learn about the resources available to them from the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute and the Leadership Academy for Middle Managers (LAMM)
*Become familiar with one of the powerful leadership concepts taught in the LAMM
*Use this concept to gain valuable insight into a management challenge they are currently facing.
