The Money-Side: An Intro to Budgeting and Finance in Human Services Management Webinar

Summary: Budgeting and finance are an important part of the management role in human services, but it is an area that most social workers who get promoted to management have very little experience. This webinar is an overview of some of the basics required to make sense of financial reports and make good financial decisions for your organization.

Note: This is NOT an accounting workshop.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand basic finance terms relevant to human services management.
  • Ability to read and understand basic financial reports of a human services organization.
  • Assess the fiscal health of a human services organization based on financial reports.

About the Presenter: 

Ruth C. White PhD, MPH, MSW is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at the University of Southern California (USC), where she teaches human services management and social policy. For more than 20 years she has educated undergraduate and graduate social work students at San Francisco State University, McGill University, UC Berkeley and Seattle University, where she earned tenure.

Inspired by her own journey of illness, recovery and resilience with bipolar disorder, Ruth is on a mission to make the world a healthier and happier place. With an engaging style, relevant content, and a dash of humor, she educates, inspires and motivates audiences to transform their organizations and their lives.

Speaking to thousands of people in trade organizations, corporations, governments, non-profits, communities and classrooms across the globe, Dr. White has built a reputation for thought-provoking keynotes, lectures, presentations and workshops that lead to paradigm shifts, organizational change and personal growth.
