Support Changemakers of Color!

Dear NSWM Colleagues,

2020 has been quite the year! As we move closer to the holidays, I encourage you to consider supporting the Network for Social Work Management in its efforts to raise funds for its Changemakers of Color Program.

Changemakers of Color was created in 2018 as a way to support Black, Indigenous, People of Color within the nonprofit sector who have leadership aspirations. If the events of this year has been any indicator, our country has a lot of work to do as it pertains to addressing its racist origins and the impact of this racism across our systems.  In health and human services, as is the case with most sectors, Black, Indigenous, People of Color  have been denied opportunities to lead and serve in leadership roles.

In 2019, The Network for Social Work Management piloted Changemakers of Color with eight changemakers based in California as a means of helping to address this racial leadership gap. During the one year program, our changemakers had an opportunity to receive 1:1 mentoring, group coaching, training, and networking opportunities. By providing these opportunities to receive support and training, and expand their networks with key influencers within the health and human services, our changemakers’ confidence, self-efficacy, and likelihood of leadership attainment increased.

We are dedicated to bringing this program back in 2021 but need your support to make this happen. The Changemakers of Color Fund will be supported solely by the generosity of donors like you who are committed to seeing and supporting diverse leadership in our sector, which is even more important during these critical times.

Specifically, your donation will go towards building efforts such as:

  • Training and Professional Development
  • Coaching and Mentoring Support
  • Program Operations
  • DEI/ Equity Ally Training for NSWM members and organizations
We are grateful for the support you have given in the past and honored to invite you to join our organization in these efforts.  There are many issues impacting communities of color throughout the US and we believe it is diverse, representative leadership that will allow us to respond to these challenges. While this fund will be an ongoing fundraising effort, our current goal is to raise $25,000 by December 31, 2020.

Please do what you can to help us reach our goal to provide equitable opportunities to our aspiring leaders of color.
